The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has introduced a new Dhs100 polymer banknote, designed with modern features and enhanced security elements.

This launch is part of the third phase of the National Currency Project, a move aimed at improving the UAE’s currency system.

The Dhs100 note’s design reflects the UAE’s progress and achievements, featuring symbols of its cultural and economic growth, showcasing the nation’s transformation into a global commercial hub.

The new banknote maintains the traditional red colour of the current Dhs100 denomination but has been updated with new aesthetic elements. The UAE nation brand is prominently displayed, with detailed designs created through advanced printing techniques.

On the front, the note features the Um Al Quwain National Fort, a historic symbol representing the UAE’s link between its past and present development.

The back of the note highlights the Port of Fujairah, one of the busiest ports in the UAE, and the Etihad Rail, an essential railway network connecting the seven emirates and expanding into the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

To strengthen security and reduce the risk of counterfeiting, the note incorporates advanced technologies like SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS and KINEGRAM COLORS, which are multi-coloured security chip technologies that ensure the note’s authenticity.

Made from polymer, the new banknote is more durable than traditional paper currency and is expected to last two or more times longer in circulation, making it a more sustainable option. In addition, Braille symbols have been added to help blind and visually impaired individuals easily identify the value of the note.

The new Dhs100 polymer note will enter circulation today, March 24, and will coexist with the current Dhs100 banknotes.
