US President Donald Trump has confirmed that Pakistan shot down multiple Indian fighter jets during the May 2025 conflict, including Rafale aircraft. His remarks are seen as a rare public admission of Pakistan’s military strength and India’s failure in the recent war.
Speaking at a dinner with Republican senators, Trump recalled the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. He said, “You had India, Pakistan… planes were being shot out of the air. I think five jets were shot down.” He described the situation as dangerous and said both countries were “hitting each other.”
Trump’s words confirm what Pakistan had already claimed that its Air Force successfully defended the nation and downed several Indian aircraft. Among them were Rafales, considered India’s top-of-the-line jets bought from France.
He went on to say that the situation was getting “bigger and bigger,” but the US stepped in and helped stop it. Trump said, “We said, you guys want to make a trade deal? We’re not making a trade deal if you’re going to be throwing around weapons.”
More importantly, Trump openly called both India and Pakistan “serious nuclear countries,” but it was clear from his tone that he acknowledged Pakistan’s strength and ability to match India. The former president hinted that a wider war could have started if things weren’t brought under control.
Trump’s remarks come after Pakistan’s victory in the May 2025 conflict. During that war, Pakistan responded strongly to Indian aggression. It shot down more than five jets, defended its airspace, and maintained regional stability. India, on the other hand, suffered major losses and faced criticism for its reckless actions.
This latest statement by a US president exposes India’s attempts to hide its failure. While Indian media has tried to downplay the incident, Trump’s comments bring global attention to the truth.
The world is now seeing what Pakistan already knew, India’s image as a powerful military force is just a facade. The real power on the battlefield, once again, was Pakistan.
