WEBDESK: A training aircraft crashed in India’s Gujarat state on Monday evening, injuring a female trainee pilot. The incident took place in Mehsana district, where the single-engine plane crashed into a field due to technical issues.
According to the media, the injured pilot was rushed to the hospital and is out of danger. The Mehsana Town Police reported that the incident occurred at 7:00 PM. The aircraft belonged to an aviation academy and crashed in a field near Ucharpi.
“After taking off from the Mehsana airport with a woman trainee pilot, the trainer aircraft of an aviation academy crashed into a field at Ucharpi. The trainee pilot received minor injuries in the accident. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital,” said the inspector.
Frequent plane crashes in India
This is not the first such incident in the country. In recent months, several aviation accidents have been reported. On March 7, two Indian aircraft crashed on the same day, one of which was a fighter jet.
While India continues discussions about purchasing advanced F-35 fighter jets, concerns remain over the safety and maintenance of training aircraft. Aviation experts stress the need for better inspection protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
The government is expected to review aviation safety measures to ensure the protection of pilots and trainees across India.
