WEBDESK: Tom Cruise is back in action, thrilling fans with even more breathtaking stunts in the latest trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The eighth and final instalment of the Mission: Impossible series sees Cruise reprise his iconic role as Ethan Hunt, the daring IMF agent who takes on seemingly impossible tasks to save the world.
The final instalment in the Mission Impossible series is expected to hit theaters on May 23rd. Tom Cruise marked the announcement for the trailer with an Instagram post on Sunday, “New trailer tomorrow.”
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning could mark the end of Tom Cruise’s role as Ethan Hunt, as the movie is expected to wrap up the storylines from the past movies. The previous film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (2023), left Ethan racing against time to prevent a rogue AI program, known as The Entity, from falling into the wrong hands – a plot that will continue in this final chapter.
In the trailer, Tom Cruise can be seen executing jaw-dropping stunts, including hanging from a plane and diving off an aircraft carrier. The action is as intense as ever, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the Mission: Impossible saga. As Hunt continues his battle against the rogue AI known as the Entity, he faces the enigmatic villain, Gabriel, played by Esai Morales.
Alongside Tom Cruise, the film introduces new faces, including Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, and Tramell Tillman, all of whom add excitement to the already high-stakes storyline. Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, and Esai Morales also star in the movie.
In an interview with Empire, Cruise revealed the challenges he faced during the stunt, sharing that he trained extensively to handle the extreme conditions, including how to breathe while dangling from the plane at over 120 mph. “There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit,” he admitted.
