One Pakistan Army officer, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, embraced martyrdom on Wednesday after taking part in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Awaran District, Balochistan.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a press release, stating, “On 16 July 2025, Security Forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Awaran District, on reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Hindustan.”
“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorist location and, resultantly, three Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell.”
It added, “However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq (age: 34 years, resident of District Muzafarabad), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, fought gallantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
The ISPR press release further stated that a sanitization operation was ongoing to clear the area of all Indian-sponsored terrorists.
The security situation in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan has severely deteriorated over the last three years.
In a separate incident of violence, a passenger bus was targeted by unknown militants, which was en route to Quetta from Karachi.
Three people were killed and seven others injured in an attack on a passenger coach in the Nimrug area of Kalat district of Balochistan when unidentified assailants opened fire on Wednesday.
The incident took place when the bus was travelling from Karachi to Quetta.
According to police sources, several passengers were injured in the attack, six of whom have been identified, while police and rescue teams immediately reached the spot.
According to sources, after the incident, the police collected evidence and provided medical assistance to the injured, while the bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital Kalat for post-mortem, where an emergency has been imposed.
