Tanushree Dutta posts disturbing video, alleges years of harassment

Webdesk: Tanushree Dutta is a Bollywood actor who sparked the MeToo movement in India way back in 2018. Now, another tragic video by her on Instagram has raised serious concerns among social media users.

In the emotional video, which was posted on Tuesday, Tanushree Dutta looked distressed as she alleged that she has been experiencing unending harassment in her home for the last 4 to 5 years.

“I am being harassed at my residence. I have just phoned the police. They wanted me to go to the station to lodge a formal complaint,” she said, trying hard to control the tears. “I am likely to go out tomorrow or the next day. I do not feel good. All this stress has made my health worse.”

Tanushree Dutta, the popular TV actress who has been vocal against sexual harassment by being an eyewitness to such acts by veteran actor Nana Patekar when she starred in Horn Ok Pleasss, has talked several times about the negative reaction that followed her disclosures.

In her recent post, she claimed that the harassment did not cease since she went on record in 2018.

She posted in the video, too, about the problems she has to contend with in her daily life, as she cannot even afford to engage domestic help. “I had terrible experiences with maids, looting, eavesdropping… everything is out of control at my house. I am forced to work alone. I am fed up.

The description that went with her video said, “I am sick and tired of this harassment! Since 2018, it has been in effect. Help me, somebody, before it is too late.”

Her moving call has been followed by a cascade of sympathetic gestures from fans, as well as the more publicised characters who have called on authorities to take stern action. The Tanushree Dutta video makes us remember how the trauma of harassment can take years to recover, even after a survivor of said harassment decides to speak out.

The police are not making an official statement, but the voice against justice and protection of Tanushree Dutta is getting louder on the internet
