Arrested suspects attacked KFC Rawalpindi for their TikTok pages: CPO Rawalpindi

In a significant development, CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, while holding a press conference on Tuesday, revealed that the assailants attacked KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch to increase their TikTok viewership.

On April 13, a video depicting a group of young men entering the KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch while hurling abuses at the employees and shouting at the customers became viral on social media.

The families, including women and children, hurriedly started fleeing the KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch as the panic spread quickly.

The incident took place on April 13 in KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch. Previously, Miscreants belonging to right-wing religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) were arrested on Tuesday following a mob attack on Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC Pakistan) in Karachi’s DHA.

Rawalpindi Police have arrested 10 assailants behind the attack on KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch. The arrested suspects include Kamran, Naseem, Tauseef, Khizr, Mansoor, Zayed, Asif, Azmat, Nasir, and Hamza.

The police arrested the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and human intelligence. Police personnel have been deployed outside the fast food branches.

The CPO Rawalpindi remarked, “In a civilised society, nobody is allowed to do this in any public place. There are TikTokers among them and all of them are Pakistanis who are not affiliated with any political party.”

The accused will be presented in court tomorrow morning and the case will be presented before the court. Meanwhile, another attack took place on the KFC E-11 branch in Islamabad on April 15 (today).

A group of men entered the KFC E-11 branch shouting at the employees to immediately close down the branch in order to show support for Palestine.

The man could be heard shouting, “Are you Muslims? This is not the conduct of Muslims! Watch the media! Don’t you all know what is going on? Shut this down now!”

Series of attacks like KFC Rawalpindi

On April 9, another restaurant in Lahore’s DHA area came under attack after people pelted the building with stones and damaging the property. Similarly, over 100 members of TLP gathered in an attempt to attack yet another outlet of a fast-food chain on M-9 Motorway on Wednesday evening.

On April 8, the mob attacked a restaurant in Mipurkhas, setting it on fire. However, the recent attack led to social media controversy after many people defended the act while others condemned the attack on KFC Rawalpindi Saddar branch.
