The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department (SELD) has announced a holiday on Saturday, March 22, in observance of the day of Hazrat Ali (RA). According to a notification issued by the education department, all public and private schools and colleges will remain closed on Saturday (21st Ramadan).
“In pursuance of the decision taken in the Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education, held on 28th November 2024, all Public & Private Educational Institutions under the Administrative Control of the School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh shall remain closed on Saturday, 22nd March 2025, on account of “Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (R.A)” (21st Ramzan-1446),” read the notification issued by the department.
Youm-e-Ali (RA)
Youm-e-Ali is observed on the 21st of Ramadan every year and large processions across the country are carried out to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).
Muslims across Pakistan observe Youm-e-Ali (RA) with reverence and respect, while authorities implement strict security measures to ensure public safety. In Karachi, the main procession will commence from Nishtar Park and conclude at Imambargah Hussainia in Kharadar. Meanwhile, in Islamabad, the main procession will begin from Imambargah Qasr-e-Zainabia.
