KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on April 4 to mark the 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) founder, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
According to an official notification,all offices along with educational institutions and private facilities in Sindh province will maintain their closed status on this specific date. The public holiday will start right after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays end on April 2.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, one of Pakistan’s most influential political figures and former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto received the highest national honor Nishan-e-Pakistan after his death for his lasting political influence on Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari presented the award to the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto during a prestigious event at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The prestigious Nishan-e-Pakistan award was received by Sanam Bhutto who attended the ceremony on behalf of her deceased father which became a monumental occasion in national history.
Between 1973 and 1977 Pakistan experienced Bhutto’s governance as Prime Minister while he worked to advance the nation’s political and economic spheres. Bhutto’s policies together with his leadership capabilities shaped the emergence of contemporary Pakistan which continues to affect the nation’s political dialogue.
The announcement of this holiday reflects the continued admiration and respect for Bhutto’s contributions. As the province prepares to observe his death anniversary, people from different walks of life will pay tribute to his vision and leadership.
Earlier the Sindh government has cancelled Eid holidays of Transport and Mass Transit Department for the sake of public. The development took place to ensure a smooth travel experience for the public during Eid holidays. Therefore, transport officials will remain on duty to facilitate commuters.
