KARACHI: The Sindh government has launched a crackdown against transporters charging fares that are unreasonable ahead of Eidul Fitr 2025.
The Sindh Transport Minister through Sharjeel Inam Memon ordered transport authorities to do rigorous oversight at bus stations and transportation terminals. The provincial commissioners and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic will lead actions against transporters who break fare rules.
Memon emphasized that all possible actions have been implemented to stop passengers from encountering unreasonable fares yet cautioned transporters to adhere to official rates because non-compliance generates penalties and legal repercussions.
The government wants people to report instances of overcharging since it guarantees strong punishment for those breaking the rules. The daily enforcement inspections will maintain fair traveler pricing through strict regulation implementation.
Eid travel opportunities are improving as Pakistan Railways launched four special trains with a 20per cent reduced fare according to information provided by Federal Railways Minister to support train journeys during this festival period.
The train services will begin operations on the 25th of Ramadan to provide better travel options for families visiting one another for Eid during his media briefing in Islamabad.
