WEBDESK: In a remarkable turn of events, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza made a last-minute return to Pakistan, playing a pivotal role in Lahore Qalandars’ triumph in the PSL 10 final against Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium.

The veteran all-rounder remained unbeaten on 22 off just seven balls alongside Kusal Perera (62)* to guide the Qalandars to triumph in the ultimate game of the tournament.

Sikandar Raza, who had been participating in a Test match against England at Trent Bridge, showcased immense dedication by travelling across multiple countries to rejoin his team. He detailed his journey, stating, “Bowled 25 overs day before yesterday and batted for 20 odd overs yesterday. Had dinner in Birmingham and breakfast in Dubai, and then drove to Abu Dhabi for lunch. Took a flight and had dinner in Pakistan.”

Arriving just minutes before the toss, Raza’s presence bolstered the Qalandars’ lineup. Chasing a formidable target of 202 runs, Lahore Qalandars clinched the victory with just one ball to spare. Kusal Perera led the charge with an unbeaten 62 off 31 balls, while Sikandar Raza contributed a swift 22* off seven deliveries, ensuring a six-wicket win.

This victory marks Lahore Qalandars’ third PSL title under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi.

Raza expressed his gratitude towards the team, saying, “I know the team truly wanted me here. The efforts the team owners and captain have gone through in the last 24 to 36 hours to get me here are unbelievable.”

Chasing 202, the Qalandars won the game on the second last ball of the final over, with six wickets in hand and a ball to spare.

Kusal Perera played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 62 off 31 balls alongside Sikandar Raza, who remained unbeaten on 22 off just seven balls.
