ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday announced that new currency notes will be available for Eid 2025 which silenced speculations there would be no new banknotes distributed this year.
The SBP issued a statement that revealed new banknotes worth Rs27 billion for 17,000 commercial bank locations all over Pakistan. The bank normally implements this annual practice to provide people with new banknotes during Eid.
The SBP supports fresh currency distribution at bank branches through Cash Monitoring teams which inspect operations directly. The teams have deployed for onsite examinations which verify the smooth delivery of banknotes to the public.
Additionally, the SBP has instructed all banks to keep their ATMs stocked with good-quality banknotes throughout the festive period, making it easier for people to withdraw cash when needed.
Eid 2025 holidays
Eid this year is expected to fall on either Monday, March 31, or Tuesday, April 1. As a result, many people will likely begin their Eid holidays on Sunday, March 30, regardless of the official announcement. Those with a five-day workweek can start their break even earlier, from Saturday, March 29.
If Eid is observed on Monday, the holidays will likely conclude on Wednesday, April 2. However, if it falls on Tuesday, April 1, the holidays may extend until Thursday, April 3. If the government declares Friday, April 4, as a public holiday, individuals with a five-day workweek could enjoy an even longer break.
In any case, most people in Pakistan can expect at least four days off for Eid. The final holiday schedule will be officially announced by the Cabinet Division.
Early salary release ahead of Eid 2025
