WEBDESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to the Saudi high leadership for its significant role in promoting regional peace in the Middle East and for mediating in the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

During a meeting with Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister recalled his warm and cordial telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on June 24, during which regional stability was discussed.

The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and thanked them for Saudi Arabia’s continued support to Pakistan.

He added that since Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of July, it will rely on Saudi support to make this tenure effective and successful.

Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki praised Pakistan’s role in ensuring regional peace and stability and emphasized the strong and strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, in an interview with a foreign media outlet in Islamabad, the Prime Minister had said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are partners in success and progress.

He noted that the decades-long relationship between the two countries is unparalleled.

He added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are partners in peace and prosperity, and that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is deeply sincere in his ties with Pakistan.

Due to the unprovoked Indian aggression, Pakistan, in turn, hit India with a military retaliatory action, Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, the limited offensive operation, which was focused only on Indian military targets.

In the airstrikes, it is said that Pakistan shot six Indian fighter aircraft three of which were top of the range Rafale, and several drones were destroyed.

This was a short-lived battle that lasted 87 hours and ended with a cease fire deal brokered by President of the US Donald Trump on May 10.

Whereas India has denied the Trump-mediator role, Pakistan did not only accept his peace mediation process, but it has already nominated him formally as a candidate to win the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
