Saudi Arabia on Friday announced that the country would observe the first Ramadan on March 1 after moon was sighted on Friday.
People in Saudi Arabia will observe their first Roza tomorrow while Pakistan’s Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that no crescent was sighted today across the country.
Traditionally, Saudi Arabia is the first country to confirm the sight of Ramadan crescent, which is then followed by other numerous countries.
Ramadan is the sacred month in which Muslims around the globe observe regular fasts from sunrise to sunset for the entire month. This month represents for a person to practice introspection, patience, and promoting welfare of others.
Earlier today, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee under the Chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabeer gathered to observe the crescent sighting on Friday. However, it was revealed that the moon was not sighted while no testimonies about moon sighting were received from any part of the country.
While Saudi Arabia observes its first Ramadan on Saturday, Pakistan will be observing its first roza on Sunday.
Maulana Khabeer had earlier also expressed his desire of entire country observing first Ramadan on the same day.
This statement came after past experiences of the country observing beginning of Ramadan on different dates. Historically, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, a controversial cleric from Peshawar, often rejected the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee’s testimonies and observed Eid earlier than the country.
For instance, Mufti Popalzai rejected the state’s central moon sighting committee’s testimonies claiming that he received 22 evidences of moon sighting.
