WEBDESK: Pakistan’s star cricketer Sadia Iqbal has made history by becoming the No. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. The left-arm spinner has reached the top after a series of strong performances and consistent form in recent matches.

Sadia Iqbal’s rise comes after England’s Sophie Ecclestone, previously holding the top spot, missed the recent T20I series against the West Indies. This allowed Sadia to move ahead and claim the top ranking.
Sadia has been a key player for Pakistan, especially during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, where her disciplined bowling helped the team in crucial matches. Her ability to bowl economically and take important wickets has impressed both fans and experts.
This is a proud moment for Pakistan as Sadia Iqbal becomes only the second Pakistani woman to ever be ranked No. 1 in ICC bowling rankings. The first was former captain Sana Mir, who achieved the top position in ODI bowling between 2018 and 2019.
In the latest rankings, India’s Deepti Sharma is now in second place, while Australia’s Annabel Sutherland is ranked third. Sophie Ecclestone has dropped to fourth due to her recent absence from international matches.
Another positive development for Pakistan is that bowler Nashra Sandhu continues to stay in the top 10, sitting comfortably at the eighth position.
This achievement shows how Sadia Iqbal’s hard work and consistency are paying off. She has become a role model for young girls in Pakistan who want to take up cricket and shine on the global stage.
Meanwhile, in the batting rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has climbed to second place after scoring 177 runs and taking three wickets in her recent series against England.
