KARACHI (Azaad English): A private Karachi bank locker was robbed, resulting in millions of rupees worth of valuables being stolen, including diamond pieces and gold jewelry.
Within the area controlled by Darakhshan police station the victim found his belongings missing while conducting his standard check-up.
Since July 2010 the victim had used the Karachi bank locker to store multiple valuables which he gradually accumulated. He conducted his last visit to the locker on February 6, 2025 and everything remained safe at that time. The victim discovered his empty locker on February 19, 2025, to find none of his items including diamond jewelry and gold pieces or branded watches left inside.
Police at Darakhshan filed a case while the victim pursued complaints both through Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and State Bank of Pakistan. Police officials have started their investigation by studying video records and bank documents in relation to the incident. Members of the bank personnel have received summons to participate in questioning about the theft.
Diamonds and gold ornaments along with high-end luxury watches comprise the stolen items from the robbery. The substantiated worth of the stolen items reaches approximately Rs1 million.
Bank lockers thefts in Karachi are increasing and this event represents the latest incident in this worrying trend.
The police started an investigation after the incident while conducting fingerprint analysis of the Karachi bank locker. The police confirm ongoing investigations in these theft cases with potential expansion of charges in the FIR when needed.
