WEBDESK: Rockstar Games has officially pushed back the GTA VI release date to May 2026, disappointing fans who were expecting the highly anticipated game to launch in late 2025. The news comes as part of the company’s updated release plans, which aim to give developers more time to polish the game.

Initially, Rockstar had announced the GTA VI release date in 2025, creating major excitement across the gaming world. However, internal reports reveal that the company had known about potential delays for months. According to gaming journalist Jason Schreier, developers had already started doubting the 2025 target due to the game’s massive scale and Rockstar’s recent focus on healthier work environments.

The change in the GTA VI release date has also affected the stock performance of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, as investors reacted to the delay. Still, many players believe that the extra time will help the company deliver a more refined and groundbreaking game.

Rockstar released the first trailer for GTA XI in December 2023, revealing a return to the fan-favorite Vice City and introducing Lucia, the game’s first female lead character. The trailer broke records, gaining over 250 million views in just a short period. But the excitement has now turned into a waiting game.

The company has reassured fans that the extended development time is necessary to meet expectations and avoid the intense “crunch time” that plagued previous titles. “We want to make sure GTA XI lives up to the hype,” Rockstar said in a recent statement.

While the new GTA VI release date may test fans’ patience, Rockstar remains committed to delivering one of the most immersive and impressive games in the franchise’s history.
