WEBDESK: Reham Khan, a journalist and the former wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has launched a new political party called the Pakistan Republic Party.

She announced the party at a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on July 15. Reham said her goal is to give real representation to the people and fight for legal and political reforms.

Reham Khan told reporters, “The whole of Pakistan is my constituency.” She said her fight is not just political, but a national mission. Her aim is to restore hope and dignity for the people.

She criticised the current government’s style of working, especially for not listening to public concerns in time. Referring to a recent traders’ strike, she questioned why the finance minister only meets with people after protests begin. “Why isn’t consultation done beforehand?” she asked.

Reham said her party will speak for farmers, women, and the working class. She said Pakistan needs laws that reflect the real struggles of the people.

She also spoke against dynastic politics. “Only five families control the assemblies today,” she said, promising to bring new and honest leadership.

Reham said she chose Karachi to launch her party because the city supported her during tough times. She said her political journey is based on service and accountability.

Reham Khan said her understanding of Pakistan grew over many years, including her time working for the BBC in 2012 and living with her mother in the country.

She recalled a moment when a child told her not to become like other politicians. That advice, she said, stayed with her.

On social media later, she invited people to join her party’s working groups. “Let’s put our heads together and plan our future together, InshAllah,” she wrote on X.

Reham Khan was married to Imran Khan in 2014. They divorced 10 months later. In 2018, she published her autobiography “Reham Khan,” which discussed her personal life and marriage.
