Rajnath Singh, Indian Defence Minister and US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth held a telephonic conversation on Tuesday.
During the call, they discussed a wide range of issues, including long-term collaboration in the defence sector, such as training programmes and military exchanges, as well as expanding industry partnerships.
Rajnath Singh thanked Washington for what he described as consistent support in India’s fight against terrorism.
He reiterated New Delhi’s usual allegations against Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of “sheltering proscribed individuals and enabling cross-border militancy”, these claims were repeatedly rejected by Pakistan.
Singh also referenced “Operation Sindoor,” describing it as a calibrated response to security threats.
He asserted that India retains the right to act pre-emptively in self-defence. However, such claims, especially when framed around so-called surgical precision, raise eyebrows in diplomatic circles, particularly when viewed in the context of controversial operations on 7th and 10th May, where India’s narrative of “success” remains hotly contested internationally.
He further praised the US Secretary of Defence for his dynamic leadership, which he said has propelled Indo-US defence cooperation to new heights.
For his part, Pete Hegseth invited Rajnath Singh to the United States for an in-person meeting to further strengthen the bilateral defence partnership.
The statement by Rajnath Singh is a textbook example of aggressive narrative warfare aimed at preparing the ground for yet another reckless misadventure against Pakistan.
By recycling tired accusations of “safe havens” and invoking Operation Sindoor to justify so-called “pre-emptive” strikes, India is transparently attempting to whitewash its humiliating defeat during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
This propaganda push appears designed to secure international cover for fresh escalatory actions under the veneer of counterterrorism.
However, analysts believe that if India dares to repeat its adventurism, it will face a harsher response from Pakistan—whose armed forces demonstrated their resolve on 7th and 10th May. The consequences of any future aggression, they warn, will be colossal.
