WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new forecast for heavy rain in several regions. Rain, thunderstorms and powerful winds are set to affect Balochistan and southern Punjab based on the forecast.

NDMA has predicted there will be above average rainfall during the monsoon season 2025 in Pakistan.

Rain prediction in Punjab:

Cities such as Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Dera Ismail Khan are likely to see rainfall in the coming days. The latest weather forecast suggests these weather changes could bring some relief from the current hot conditions, but they also raise concerns about urban flooding and landslides in certain regions.

However right now Punjab is experiencing very high temperatures as a heatwave approaches and places such as Lahore are expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius or more. With temperatures increasing in Punjab, daily life has become uncomfortable and gets disrupted for many people in the province.

Rain prediction in Balochistan:

Cities such as Zhob, Barkhan in Balochistan are likely to see rainfall in the coming days. The largest rise in rainfall is forecast in monsson season 2025 in Pakistan is for Balochistan, with an increase of 70 to 80 per cent.

The monsoon season is expected to be heavy, which may cause flooding in some streets, trigger landslides, and lead rivers and dams to overflow. The NDMA recommends that government and emergency officials prepare well in advance to handle these potential risks.

Weather Update for Islamabad:

The weather in Islamabad will be mostly sunny and temperature levels could reach 44°C. Nevertheless, there are signs of thunderstorms in the forecast for the second half of the week, with the rainfalls and storms being most likely on May 29.

Farmers are also being advised to stay updated with the weather forecast and plan their agricultural activities and protect their crops from possible damage accordingly. Preparing ahead for the upcoming rainfall can help reduce losses.

The PMD urges everyone to follow weather updates regularly and take necessary safety measures during this period of changing weather.
