WEBDESK: Rain expected across various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) starting tonight, according to the latest advisory by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The rainfall is predicted to continue intermittently until tomorrow, bringing with it the chances of thunderstorms in several regions.

Rain Expected in KP:

The PDMA has warned that areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder.

Due to the weather alert, the PDMA has issued instructions to all district administrations to stay alert and be prepared for any emergency situations. They have been directed to ensure the availability of heavy and light machinery in case of road blockages or infrastructure damage.

The NDMA has announced that the monsoon season in 2025 could begin around June 30 and may end around mid-September. In several regions this year, rainfall will exceed normal amounts.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) could see 15 to 30 per cent more than usual in monsoon season 2025.

Rain Expected in Punjab:

Rainfall is also expected in the cities of Punjab. The next few days are expected to bring rainfall to Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan and Dera Ismail Khan. Experts say these sudden changes in the weather may improve the current heat, although there are concerns about possible flooding and landslides in some locations.

The approaching heatwave is making Punjab extremely hot and cities such as Lahore are due to reach over 43 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The public is also being urged to remain cautious. During rainfall, citizens should stay away from power lines, old and unstable buildings, signboards, and billboards to avoid any accidents.

Rain Expected in Balochistan:

Zhob and Barkhan in Balochistan will also see rainfall during the following days. The upper estimate for Balochistan in the monsson season of 2025 is a rise of up to 70 to 80 per cent.

The upcoming monsoon is expected to flood some streets, prompt landslides and see rivers and dams spill their water. Government and emergency officials should use advanced approaches to handle such risks, according to the NDMA.
