WEBDESK: Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has once again strongly criticised the country’s ruling ideology, accusing the RSS and BJP of pushing a dangerous, organised agenda to erase India’s secular and democratic identity. According to Rahul, what India faces today is no longer a temporary political mistake or policy failure it has become a systematic and dangerous ideological invasion, commonly referred to by critics as Hindutva Fascism.

India’s decline is now the result of a carefully planned campaign, where secular values, democratic traditions and social harmony are being sacrificed in favour of ancient, discriminatory beliefs taken from Manusmriti, a Hindu legal text historically used to justify caste-based oppression.

Rahul Gandhi says India today is no longer a nation of equal citizens, but one controlled by a select few, symbolised by a saffron-clad priest who decides who belongs in the country and who does not.

Row over Constitution’s ‘Secular’ and ‘Socialist’ Principles

The controversy began when RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale called for removing the words ‘Socialist’ and ‘Secular’ from the Indian Constitution’s preamble. Responding sharply, Rahul Gandhi posted on social media “The RSS’s real face is now exposed. They are upset with the Constitution because it speaks of equality, secularism, and justice. The RSS-BJP don’t want the Constitution, they want Manusmriti.”

Rahul accused the RSS-BJP of attempting to snatch away the rights of the poor and marginalised, and taking away people’s strongest weapon the Indian Constitution. He warned that this was part of a wider plan to reduce India’s democratic system into an unequal society controlled by ancient religious laws.

He added, “The RSS should stop dreaming. Every patriotic Indian will defend the Constitution till their last breath.”

Opposition parties and civil society groups reacted strongly to Hosabale’s statement. The Congress Party and other political organisations condemned the remarks, while the BJP leadership indirectly backed Hosabale’s views, claiming that these words were not part of the original Constitution drafted by Dr B. R. Ambedkar.

Rahul Gandhi reminded the public about what the Manusmriti represents. It is an ancient Hindu text that historically denied non Hindus and lower castes any rights or protections. According to Azaad Research, India’s secular Constitution has always been a threat to such extremist groups because it guarantees equality, dignity, and freedom to those very people whom the Manusmriti deems untouchable and undeserving.
