Punjab’s first Environmental Protection Force launched

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday addressed the inauguration ceremony of the province’s first-ever Environmental Protection Force aimed at improving pollution in Lahore.

The inauguration ceremony in Lahore featured the passing out parade of newly made environmental protection force which was attended by CM Maryam Nawaz, ministers and other dignitaries.

The Punjab government’s official Instagram page posted the picture advertising the Punjab’s first environmental protection force. 

According to details, the Chief Minister introduced two key environmental systems – the  Environmental Approval Management System and the Emission Testing System – aimed at improving pollution control and regulating vehicle emissions.

CM Maryam Nawaz commended the establishment of new force aimed at tacking the pollution crisis and climate change. She also revealed that the provincial government is working to make Punjab a role model for other provinces.

Environmental Protection Forces Responsibilities:

The newly made force in Lahore will work against increase in plastic waste, focus on overall pollution, anti-dengue campaigns, protecting water resources, most importantly monitoring gas emissions, overseeing hospital and idustrial waste across the city.

Moreover, the environmental protection force will also have 360-degree surveillance vehicles, thermal drones and mobile air quality stations.

The mobile air quality stations will be used for real-time environmental monitoring.
