Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab Chief Organiser and leader, Aliya Hamza, has been ordered by a Rawalpindi Court to be sent to jail on a judicial remand on Saturday.

The Rawalpindi District Court heard a case filed against 5 PTI activists including Aliya Hamza. The court gave a reserved verdict after the arguments of the both parties.

Earlier, Rawalpindi Police detained Aliya Hamza and other PTI workers. Around midnight, several workers of PTI and Aliya Hamza were arrested by police and shifted them to multiple police stations in the city.

PTI leader Seemabia Tahir alleged that Aliya Hamza was being held at the Women Police Stations, while other five workers who had been arrested were shifted to the Airport Police Station.

“We had a youth convention in Rawalpindi today from where [Aliya] Hamza was arrested. It is our constitutional right to protest or hold a convention, we have not acted against the law,” she stated.

The case against Aliya Hamza includes charges related to incitement, resisting the police, blocking the road and interfering in official duties.

The other five PTI workers who have been arrested include, Hamza, Muhammid Zahid, Noman Aslam, Adil Munir and Shamim Aftab.

It merits a mention that the Rawalpindi District Court has approved the bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aliya Hamza for hearing Saturday evening.

Civil Judge Dr. Mumtaz Hanjra adjourned the hearing of the bail application. Aliya Hamza was also present in the court during the hearing on the bail application.

Her legal counsel argued that when the cases against Hamza and other PTI workers were the same then how was it possible for three people to get judicial bail while other two got bail.

The PTI lawyers said that the court should treat all five accused equally. The court staff first asked for the discharge of two accused.
