WEBDESK (Azaad English): A incident took place where private guards in Lahore open fire on citizens on Canal Road near the Beijing Underpass. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, quickly escalated as the guards physically assaulted the victim before attempting to flee.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Imran, showed remarkable courage by stopping one of the attackers despite being struck with a rifle butt. Imran, a clothing trader, later shared details of the attack, stating, “They stopped me under the bridge and fired at my car. A second shot was about to be fired at me, but people intervened, recorded videos, and the attackers fled.”
Despite their attempt to escape, Imran managed to block the guards’ path with his car, preventing them from getting away. Witnesses at the scene supported Imran and condemned the attackers’ actions.
Following the incident, the Lahore police arrested four security guards and seized their weapons and vehicles. Taking strict action, Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered the registration of a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He also directed authorities to take legal action against the security company that employed the guards.
A case was officially registered at the Mughalpura Police Station. According to the complaint, the armed men had fired directly inside the underpass before physically assaulting the victim. A bullet struck the bonnet of Imran’s car, damaging the radiator.
Police have begun an investigation and are searching for additional suspects, including a police officer allegedly involved in the incident. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from Lahore’s Safe City cameras to track down all those responsible.
The shocking attack has raised concerns about security personnel misusing their authority and the dangers posed by such incidents in public areas. The case continues to be investigated, with further arrests expected in the coming days.
