WEBDESK: President Asif Ali Zardari is recovering well after falling ill earlier this week and is expected to be discharged from the hospital within a day or two, according to his personal doctor, Dr. Asim Hussain.

Speaking to the media in Karachi on Saturday, Dr. Asim said there is nothing to worry about and dismissed false reports spreading on social media and Indian news channels regarding the president’s health.

Dr. Asim explained that President Zardari felt unwell during Eid prayers in Nawabshah. After assessing his condition, doctors decided to shift him to Karachi on Monday night for further medical tests.

“Tests confirmed that the President had contracted a variant of the coronavirus,” Dr. Asim revealed. “We immediately began treatment, including the use of some medicines that were imported from abroad.”

He added that the President’s condition is improving steadily, and he may be discharged by tomorrow or the day after.

Dr. Asim also took the opportunity to remind the public that COVID-19 has not completely disappeared. “While it’s not as dangerous as it was in its early days, the virus still exists, and new cases are still being reported in hospitals,” he warned.

He emphasized that President Zardari is on the road to full recovery, and urged people not to believe or spread rumours.

Some news channels claimed that he has been shifted to Dubai for treatment. Sindh minister Sharjeel Memon came forward and denied the news.
