PPP Senator Taj Haider passes away in Karachi

Pakistan People’s Party Senator Taj Haider has passed away after being admitted to the hospital for illness on Tuesday.

It merits a mention that Taj Haider was one of the ideological leaders and core activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Senator Taj Haider was a politician, intellectual and Marxist thinker. He was born on 8 March 1942 in British India (present-day India). His family migrated to Pakistan after the partition of India in 1947.

He was also one of the founding members of the PPP while also serving as its General Secretary for a long time. Senator Taj Haider was a mathematician by profession who also played a pivotal role in the beginning years of Pakistan’s nuclear project.

A leftist by ideology, Taj Haider became a loyal supporter of founder PPP Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Senator Taj Haider also played a significant role in the arts and literature as he wrote multiple plays and dramas for PTV.

Taj Haider displayed courageous resistance to dictatorships, supporting peaceful dissent against them.
