WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast predicting rain and strong winds across many parts of the country, especially in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). According to the PMD, this change in weather is expected to bring some relief from the ongoing heat, but dusty winds and thunderstorms may also cause temporary disruption in some areas.

Islamabad and its surrounding areas are likely to witness extreme heat during the day, with the possibility of thunderstorm-driven rain at a few locations by night, the PMD said.

Surrounding hill stations like Murree and Galiyat may also receive light to moderate rainfall.

In northern Punjab, places such as Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi are expected to see isolated showers, possibly accompanied by dust storms. The PMD also warned that dusty winds may blow across Punjab’s plains during the daytime, which could affect visibility and travel.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PMD has forecast strong dusty winds in the plains during the day. Rain and thunderstorms are likely in the northern parts of the province, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand during the night. Areas like Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad are also likely to experience rain with thunder and lightning.

Meanwhile, in Sindh, the weather is expected to stay very hot and dry, especially in central and upper districts. No rainfall is predicted for the region, and citizens are advised to take precautions against heatstroke and dehydration.

In Balochistan, the PMD predicts similar weather conditions, with most districts likely to remain hot and dry. However, temperatures may slightly dip in the western areas during the evening hours.

Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, particularly in regions facing heatwave-like conditions.
