WEBDESK: PM Shehbaz Sharif has, on Monday, congratulated Lahore Qalandars for winning their third Pakistan Super League (PSL) title after a thrilling final against Quetta Gladiators. The final match of HBL PSL 10 was played on May 25, 2025, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where Lahore Qalandars secured a six-wicket victory.
In his message, PM Shehbaz Sharif praised the team for their outstanding performance and determination throughout the tournament. He said the Qalandars played with great spirit and truly deserved the win. He also highlighted how the PSL continues to unite the nation through a shared love for cricket.
“Lahore Qalandars successfully achieved the target after a thrilling match,” Sharif said in a statement issued from his office. “All the teams involved in PSL 10 showed excellent sportsmanship.”
The tournament, already in the spotlight due to escalating tensions between Pakistan and India earlier in May, was briefly paused as both nations engaged in a four-day cross-border conflict.
Despite the interruption, HBL PSL 10 concluded successfully, drawing praise from political leaders and cricket officials alike.
PM Shehbaz Sharif didn’t only appreciate Lahore Qalandars but also gave credit to all the teams that participated in PSL 10. He commended the efforts of every player, coach, and support staff who made the tournament exciting and competitive. The Prime Minister said that events like the PSL are vital for promoting sportsmanship, talent, and national pride.
He further stated that the success of the PSL proves Pakistan’s ability to host major sports events and reflects the country’s passion for cricket. According to PM Shehbaz Sharif, such tournaments play a key role in encouraging young athletes and building a stronger future for sports in the country.
The final match was a memorable one. Lahore Qalandars chased down a challenging target (202 runs) set by Quetta Gladiators in 19.5 overs. Star performances from Kusal Perera and Sikandar Raza played a huge part in their victory. Fans in the stadium and across the country celebrated the moment with great excitement.
PM Shehbaz Sharif further acknowledged the contribution of international players, stating their involvement “made this successful event possible.”
Lahore Qalandars now join Islamabad United as the only teams to win three HBL PSL titles, with their previous wins coming in 2022 and 2023. The victory reaffirms their dominance in the T20 league’s recent history.
A public reception for the team is expected in the coming days, according to Lahore city officials.
