Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has invited Pakistani footballer, Muhammad Riaz whose video recently went viral on social media as he was forced to sell jalebi in Hangu, KP to earn some money.

The prime minister is expected to meet Riaz today at PM House in Islamabad.

After this news, Muhammad Riaz said, “I was hopeful after hearing the prime minister’s announcement, but the delay had been unbearable. With no income, I had to find an honest way to provide for my family. That’s why I now stand at a street corner, cooking jalebis instead of practicing football.”

Muhammad Riaz awarded Rs1 million

Additionally, the Pakistan Football League (PFL) has announced a prize money of Rs1 million for the star footballer who represented Pakistan in the 2018 Asian Games.

The PFL has also offered him a prominent position in the league and international training opportunities.

Riaz expressed his gratitude to the PFL and Chairman Junejo, saying, “I am thankful for this opportunity to revive my love for football. I will work with the PFL to ensure that no other player is neglected.”

The PFL has also announced plans to provide free kits and training facilities to deprived football players in Hangu, which is Riaz’s hometown.

With no money at all, Riaz had to sell jalebis because he was left jobless after his former department, K-Electric disbanded its football team.

The disbandment came during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government when it imposed a controversial ban on departmental sports.
