Webdesk; Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a message marking Police Martyrs’ Day, extended deep appreciation to Pakistan’s police force. For its unwavering commitment to maintaining public peace and security in the face of major challenges.
National Police Martyrs’ Day is being observed across the country today, on Monday. To honour the sacrifices of the police force.
The day is dedicated to remembering the bravery of police officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty and to show support for their families.
Special ceremonies and events are being held nationwide to recognise the vital role of the police in maintaining peace and security.
PM Shehbaz acknowledged that, as a frontline force in the fight against terrorism, over 8,000 officers had laid down their lives.
“In the war on terrorism, more than 8,000 police officers and men sacrificed their blood for the sake of the homeland and, as a frontline defence force, saved millions of children of the country from orphanhood as their children became parentless,” he stated.
The prime minister noted with sorrow the recent martyrdom of five Elite Force personnel during an anti-dacoit operation in Rahim Yar Khan.
“Thousands of police martyrs, including these martyrs, are our pride,” he remarked.
In his tribute, Shehbaz Sharif also honoured the families left behind. “Today, we also salute the great families of our martyrs who sacrificed their future for us.”
He expressed that every police officer working tirelessly in all regions. From the coast of Gwadar to the high peaks of Gilgit-Baltistan, brings pride to the nation.
He praised the police for their professionalism, not only in Pakistan but also on global platforms.
“Pakistan Police has demonstrated its professional capabilities all over the world, and the medals and awards won at the recent World Police Summit 2025 are clear proof of this,” he said.
Highlighting the growing use of modern technology in crime prevention. The PM welcomed the improved capabilities and enhanced trust between police and citizens.
He acknowledged their coordination with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and emergency services. Crediting such joint efforts for foiling countless attempts to destabilise the country in recent years.
