PM Shehbaz played key role in Iran-Israel ceasefire: interior minister

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif helped secure a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

The two countries fought for 12 days. The conflict started on June 13 when Israel bombed Iran.

The attack killed military commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded with missile strikes on Israeli cities.

The Israeli action came before planned Iran-U.S. talks. Iran claimed its strikes damaged key targets.Pakistan supported Iran during the conflict.

The country spoke for Iran at the UN Security Council and OIC. PM Shehbaz talked to Iranian President Pezeshkian by phone.

Pezeshkian thanked Sharif for Pakistan’s support.Naqvi spoke at a press conference with religious scholars. He discussed security for Muharram.

He also addressed the recent Pakistan-India conflict.

Naqvi said India fired 11 missiles at a Pakistani base. None hit their target.

No Pakistani aircraft were damaged. The conflict lasted 87 hours. Both sides launched cross-border attacks.

India started airstrikes after the Pahalgam incident. The incident killed 26 tourists in IIOJK. Pakistan retaliated with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

The operation targeted Indian military sites. Indian strikes killed 53 people in Pakistan. This included 13 soldiers and 40 civilians.Naqvi said Pakistan did not target Indian civilians.

He stressed the importance of law enforcement for Muharram security.

Religious scholars’ efforts also matter. Minister Talal Chaudhry called for unity. He said unity helps maintain order and fight terrorists during Muharram.
