WEBDESK: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has banned unauthorized photography and videography during aircraft maintenance. The airline says this is to protect security and confidentiality.
According to a PIA spokesperson, some people have been taking photos and videos without permission during maintenance work. The airline believes this is a serious security risk.
To ensure safety and privacy, only authorized staff, such as aircraft engineers and the safety team are allowed to take pictures or videos. Other staff, including ground handling agents and airline workers, are not allowed to do so.
PIA has warned that anyone breaking this rule will face strict disciplinary action.
In other news the government has approved PIA privatisation, allowing private investors to purchase between 51 per cent and 100 per cent of the airline’s shares.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on PIA Privatisation, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He stated that privatising PIA would ease the government’s financial burden and support the airline’s growth. Following the sale, the airline’s management will also be transferred to private owners.
