ISLAMABAD: The approval of Pakistan’s much-awaited Personal Data Protection Bill has been delayed once more. The Ministry of Information Technology (IT) on Wednesday asked for 14 more days to finalize the draft.
During a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on IT, ministry officials said the revised draft has been shared with key stakeholders, and their feedback is being reviewed. The ministry is still working on important clauses to make sure the law is strong and effective.
Officials have assured that the final draft will be ready within two weeks. After that, it will be sent to the inter-ministerial committee and then to the federal cabinet for approval. The ministry is committed to completing all legal steps to ensure the bill’s smooth passage.
