Pakistani Stars Return to Indian Social Media After Temporary Ban

WEBDESK: Pakistani celebrities and popular YouTube channels have made a return to Indian social media platforms, following a temporary ban imposed by India earlier this year. The decision has triggered lively discussions across Indian social media, with fans on both sides of the border reacting to the development.

Among those whose accounts have been reinstated are popular actors Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi, and Danish Taimoor. Several Pakistani YouTube entertainment and music channels, previously inaccessible to Indian viewers, have also been restored.

As news of the unblocking spread, Indian social media quickly filled with screenshots, comments and hashtags celebrating the move.

The ban had been introduced in April following the tragic Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which claimed 26 civilian lives. In the aftermath, India imposed strict restrictions on Pakistani YouTube channels and celebrity accounts, causing an uproar on Indian social media at the time.

However, some high profile names, including Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Wahaj Ali, and Hania Aamir, remain blocked. This selective unblocking has once again become a talking point across Indian social media, where fans continue to debate the ongoing restrictions.

Several Indian media outlets, have confirmed the partial lifting of the ban, noting how social media users were the first to spot and share news of the restored access.

As both nations gear up for a highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup cricket clash in September, the return of Pakistani content to Indian social media adds another layer to the ever-evolving relationship between entertainment, politics, and public opinion in the region.
