Webdesk: Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are likely today in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, and Islamabad. Some areas may also see isolated heavy rainfall during this period, according to Pakistan weather update. Other parts of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather conditions.
According to the weather office, a seasonal low-pressure area lies over northwest Balochistan and is stretched horizontally. Strong monsoon currents are moving into the upper regions of the country and are expected to remain active over the next 48 hours. A westerly wave is also present over the northern areas of Pakistan.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), through its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), has issued warnings for various regions across the country.
A powerful southwest monsoon system is forecast to remain active from July 28 to 31, bringing widespread rainfall to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). This may cause flooding, landslides, and water accumulation in low-lying urban areas.
