Webdesk: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain, wind and thunderstorms in different parts of the country in the coming days. Several regions, including Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast and south Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, are likely to be affected, according to the latest Pakistan weather update.

According to the PMD, heavy to hefty rainfall may trigger flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of D.G. Khan, parts of Balochistan, Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab.

The PMD has also warned of possible landslides and mudslides in Murree, Galliyat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, which could lead to road blockages.

Urban flooding is also a concern in low-lying parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar due to heavy rainfall.

Strong winds may damage weak structures such as electric poles, trees, signboards, and solar panels. The public is advised to take necessary precautions.

These changing weather conditions are due to weak monsoon currents entering from the Arabian Sea, which are expected to strengthen. A strong westerly wave is also predicted to affect the upper and central parts of the country.

Authorities and residents are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially in vulnerable areas. Urban flooding, flash floods, landslides, and wind-related damage remain significant risks during this period.
