Webdesk: The Pakistan meteorological department (PMD) has given an outlook of further heavy rainwater in various regions of the country with a risk of flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding, according to the latest Pakistan weather update.

The recent weather warning indicates that rain and thunderstorms are expected in several parts of the country such as Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

The next 24 hours are likely to bring hot and humid weather to most areas, but scattered rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder is expected in the afternoon and evening in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir, and GB.

The Met Office has cautioned that heavy downpours could trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs, especially in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, and other areas in northeastern Punjab, Balochistan, and Kashmir.

There are also warnings of possible landslides in hilly areas of KP, Murree, Galliyat, GB, and Kashmir, which may disrupt road traffic and affect normal movement.

Low-lying areas in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar are at risk of urban flooding due to the intense rainfall.

In addition, the PMD said that strong winds and storms may cause damage to weak infrastructure, including power lines, solar panels, trees, and vehicles. In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy with chances of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and spells of heavy rain at isolated locations.

The latest round of monsoon showers has already affected some of the regions in the nation. It resulted in the death of one individual in Hangu, as the roof of a house collapsed because of the storm. Lahore Similar levels of power outages in various regions have been reported in Lahore after a number of feeders tripped because of rain.

In the meantime, flash floods in the outskirts of Gilgit brought by cloudbursts and torrential rains had damaged crops on thousands of acres, destroyed homes and cattle sheds, and halted traffic on the Gilgit-Ghizer highway.

Efforts have been made to caution citizens, particularly communities in susceptible locations to stay vigilant and exercise preventive measures since additional precipitation is anticipated over the next few days.
