Pakistan will host the eagerly anticipated 14th South Asian Games in 2026.

The games, which were originally scheduled for 2021 but were postponed because of COVID-19, will take place from January 23 to January 31 in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Islamabad.

Due to the Indian government’s obstinate position, the Indian Olympic Association may not receive a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from its government to deploy the delegation to Pakistan, raising questions about the games.

During the conference, the accomplishments of Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra and Pakistani star Arshad Nadeem were also emphasised.

By winning medals in the javelin throw at Paris 2024, the athletes elevated South Asia to a global stage. Their accomplishment not only motivated young people on the subcontinent but also demonstrated the ability of athletics to foster harmony, peace, and common goals across national boundaries.

Additionally, it was declared that the technical handbooks would be written and issued pending clearance from the relevant Asian Federations, and that the events for each sport would be selected by March 31.

In order to bring the constitution of the South Asian Olympic Committee into compliance with that of the Olympic Council of Asia, it was also decided to establish a Constitution Review Committee.

Currently, Pakistan is hosting Champions Trophy 2025 for the first time since the 1996 World Cup.
