Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted to the loss of Indian lives in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir after gunmen opened fire killing at least 26 tourists in Pahalgam.
The spokeperson of the ministry extended condolences to the near ones of the deceased.
“We are concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives in an attack in Anantnag district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery”, the spokeperson said.
What happened in Occupied Kashmir?
The attack took place in Baisaran, a mountain-top meadow three miles (5km) from Pahalgam in the Occupied Kashmir.
According to Indian reports, survivors have been recounting the horrific moments after they stepped off a tourist bus – one woman, who claimed the attackers targeted men, said her husband died from a single shot to the head.
Strict security checks are being implemented, especially in tourist areas.
Checkpoints have also been set up in the Kashmir valley.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached Srinagar and more teams are expected to follow.
Many top security officials are also expected to visit Pahalgam.
