The Government of Pakistan has announced its decision to formally recommend US President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

The announcement comes in recognition of Trump’s role in helping de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan during the 2025 military crisis.

According to Pakistan’s official statement, Trump played a key role through active diplomatic efforts that led to a ceasefire and helped prevent a full-scale war between two nuclear-armed countries. The government called his actions a “decisive intervention” that brought both sides back from the brink of major conflict.

Pakistan had launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos in response to what it described as unprovoked Indian aggression that caused civilian casualties. The military operation was presented as a controlled and targeted response.

The government praised Trump for his efforts to promote peace and for his past offers to mediate on the Kashmir dispute. It said a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue is central to regional peace and can only come through dialogue and in line with United Nations resolutions.

The statement also mentioned Trump’s continuing influence on global diplomacy and noted his past and present efforts to address conflicts in other regions, including Gaza and the Iran crisis.
