WEBDESK: In a conversation with The Pakistan Pivot, former Indian Army officer, Pravin Sawhney, gave his opinion on the Pakistani military potency and its contribution to conflicts in the region in the past.

He stated that “Pakistan has never lost a war, please understand this, not even in the 71 war in Eastern theatre.”

Pravin Sawhney further explained that if Pakistan had truly lost, there would have been no ceasefire or Line of Control in place.

“If India were that powerful, the Line of Control simply wouldn’t remain,” he remarked, adding that India often underestimates Pakistan’s military strength.

Speaking directly to the people of Pakistan, Sawhney emphasised the competence and capability of their armed forces.

“Do not think of your country’s armed forces as weak,” he said, highlighting that in all the wars fought between the two nations, Pakistan has never been defeated.

While discussing the separation of East Pakistan in 1971, Sawhney clarified that the situation was unique due to logistical challenges.

“East Pakistan became Bangladesh, there was a helpless situation here because you could not provide logistics here since everything had to come through Indian airspace,” he explained.

Another hot topic that Pravin Sawhney touched upon was nuclear weapons, claiming that their usage should be avoided by both nations under all circumstances.

Sawhney also complimented Pakistani generals as being wise and intelligent, especially in their choices of strategy using nuclear weapons.

In the course of his comments, Sawhney iteratively noted how India tends to miscalculate or underrate the military capabilities of Pakistan.

His remarks have brought about a debate amongst regional observers and analysts, especially as tension still lingers between the two nations.

Pravin Sawhney is the author of multiple books, such as Defence Makeover, Parakram, Dragon On Our Doorstep, and The Last War: How AI Will Shape India’s Final Showdown with China, and he made bold claims concerning the military history between Pakistan and India.
