WEBDESK: Pakistan Day was celebrated on March 23, 2025, at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad to commemorate the Lahore resolution of 1940. The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, followed by special prayers for the country’s progress and prosperity.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by a display of military prowess and national unity.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, chiefs of the armed forces, and other dignitaries attended the event.

Different formations of Sherdil, Mirage, F-16, JF-17 Thunder, and J-10C aircraft showcased an impressive flypast, soaring through the sky with remarkable precision and agility.

Speaking at the event held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president highlighted the principles of “Unity, Faith, and Discipline” as the foundation for overcoming challenges.

He paid tribute to the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to establishing a modern welfare state based on equality, justice, and the rule of law.

Zardari warned against external threats from India and militant groups, assuring that the armed forces and the nation stand united to thwart any nefarious designs.

He stressed the need to strengthen national defence, boost economic sectors, and create employment opportunities for youth, whom he termed the nation’s greatest asset.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, urging the international community to ensure their right to self-determination.

Pakistan Day marks the anniversary of the Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for an independent Muslim state in South Asia. The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s creation and reinforces the nation’s commitment to progress and unity.
