Pakistan China media partnership forms joint front against fake news

WEBDESK: Pakistan and China have agreed to further strengthen their longstanding friendship by Pakistan China media partnership. In a significant development, both countries on Thursday announced plans to launch joint broadcasting projects and exchange digital influencers, reaffirming the growing importance of the Pakistan China media partnership in tackling fake news and disinformation.

It was decided after a meeting in Beijing between Pakistan Minister of information and broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Cao Shumin, Deputy Head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Pakistan China Media Partnership: Joint Action Against Disinformation

The leaders underlined the value of a common story against fake information and accepted training in technics and collaboration within institutions. Both parties explained that the Pakistan china media collaboration was an expression of their trust and a symbol of their long-term relationship.

The meeting also addressed plans for a formal agreement between PTV and China Central Television (CCTV) to promote the exchange of content and expertise.

The role of state run media agencies such as PTV, Radio Pakistan and APP have also been vital in informing the people of Pakistan with the stories of the development in China, CPEC and Belt and Road initiative, which was highlighted by Minister Tarar. Citing an example, he highlighted that PTV normally broadcasts Chinese documentaries and programmes in Urdu, further sealing the Pakistan China media relationship.

Tarar also praised the success of APP’s China News Service, which has been effectively presenting Pakistan’s narrative to Chinese readers.

Digital Influencers and Future Media Projects

The two agreed to promote reciprocal visits of Pakistani and Chinese digital influencers. According to Tarar, such exchanges would give foreign affairs a re-birth and revitalize the bilateral relationship in the modern digital age.

Cao Shumin was re pledged and declared Pakistan as a trustworthy partner that is reliable. She also opined that the Pakistan China media partnership would keep on introducing novel people to people cultural and media initiatives.
