In a significant development, 19 countries, including Pakistan, have issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s unprovoked military aggression against Iran.

The Foreign Ministers of Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Türkiye, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates issued a collective statement against Israel’s illegal and dangerous actions.

The joint statement today called for immediate de-escalation and a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. “The recent Israeli aggression against Iran poses a serious threat to the peace and stability of the entire region,” the statement read. “We call for an immediate halt to the hostilities and the return to diplomatic dialogue to prevent further escalation.”

Furthermore, the foreign ministers also called for the creation of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction, urging all regional states to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Israel attacked Iran, reportedly to target its nuclear program, earlier this week. The attack involved targeting multiple sensitive sites and civilian areas, leading to the deaths of the top echelon of Iranian military leadership.

Iran and the United States were engaged in talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program when Israel violated Iran’s sovereignty.

The leaders of Muslim countries highlighted that any attacks on Iran’s facilities that were under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) “are not only a violation of international law but also an infringement of humanitarian principles outlined in the 1949 Geneva Conventions.”

“The only way forward is through dialogue and adherence to international law. Military means cannot bring about a lasting resolution,” the statement concluded.
