The Modi government’s failure to provide evidence in the investigation into the Pahalgam attack has exposed a severe lack of transparency on the part of Indian authorities.

According to a report by the Times of India, Indian authorities claimed that two Kashmiri youths helped Pakistani attackers for a few thousand rupees, but no verifiable evidence was presented in this regard.

Indian intelligence agencies had designated 15 Kashmiris as Overground Workers (OGWS) and accused them of providing shelter, weapons and escape routes to alleged terrorists. However, no evidence was provided.

According to security experts, the investigative approach adopted after the Pahalgam attack seems to be more of a propaganda piece than the demands of justice.

Indian authorities are failing to provide any verifiable evidence, which shows a lack of transparency in the investigation.

The story of killing on the basis of religious identity exposes the communalism and prejudice of the Indian state.

The Indian media has been fabricating the story of the killing on the basis of religion and presenting the Pahalgam incident in the context of Hindu-Muslim hatred.

Describing Kashmiris as “traitors for the greed of a few rupees” is a systematic attempt to divert attention from India’s internal political problems.

The entire region is being collectively punished by declaring 15 local people as OGWS, which is a clear violation of human rights.

The Indian investigative agency, after months of silence, has now claimed that all the attackers involved in Pahalgam allegedly came from Pakistan. Experts have suggested that this kind of outcome was expected from India as they had already blamed Pakistan within ten minutes of the incident.

Making the attackers appear to be from Pakistan is an old habit of India.

Pakistan’s appeal for a transparent and impartial investigation further highlights the weakness and contradictions of the Indian narrative.

If India’s claims are true, it should present evidence to the international community in a transparent manner.
