ISLAMABAD: The high-level Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday unanimously decided to deal with terrorists with an “iron hand.”

Earlier, opposition alliance including PTI decided to skip the high-level meeting, arguing that the government should involve incarcerated Imran Khan in the process.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has said “If this country exists, then so do we, so there is nothing more important to us than the security of the country. For the security of Pakistan, we will have to adopt a unified narrative beyond our political and personal interests.”

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, while addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, said that there is no agenda, no movement, no personality greater than the security of the country.

“For sustainable stability, all elements of national power will have to work in harmony. This is a battle for our survival and that of our future generations. We need better governance and making the state of Pakistan a Hard State.”

General Syed Asim Munir further remarked: “How long will we continue to sacrifice countless lives in the style of a Soft State. How long will we continue to fill the governance gaps with the blood of the armed forces of Pakistan and the martyrs.”

He also requested the scholars to expose the distorted interpretation of Islam by the terrorists.

Gen Asim concluded by expressing hope, saying, “Today gives a message to those who think that they can weaken Pakistan through these terrorists that we will unite and not only fail them but also all their facilitators. We have full faith in Allah Almighty, whatever happens, Insha Allah we will succeed.”
