This year, no affordable Ramazan Bazaar will be set up in Rawalpindi due to the financial crisis the Punjab government is facing, Express Tribune has reported. The affordable Ramazan Bazaars, which were converted into Eid Bazaars after the 20th of Ramazan, used to be set up in Rawalpindi every year.

This year, instead of the typical 16 bazaars, there was just one Ramazan Bazaar set up outside the city, which made it hard for most residents to get there. The taxi, rickshaw, or private vehicle fare to reach this spot is between Rs1,000 and Rs1,500, making it a tough choice for many people.

The bazaars used to offer an opportunity for people to buy daily life food items at subsidised rates.

Eid holiday Pakistan

The Cabinet Division of Pakistan has declared March 31 to April 2 as official Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. While Eid is expected on March 31, the final date depends on moon sighting.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and zonal committees will convene on March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 AH) to observe the Shawwal moon. The official announcement will follow their decision.

Pakistan determines Eid based on traditional moon sighting methods, and the confirmed date will mark the beginning of celebrations across the country.
