Webdesk: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has said that there is no pressure from Washington on Islamabad to recognise Israel.

Speaking at a community event in Dallas, Texas, the ambassador clarified that Pakistan’s policy on Israel is rooted in the ideology of the country’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and remains unchanged.

“Our policy towards Israel is consistent with Quaid-e-Azam’s ideology,” he stated. “There is no pressure from the United States to recognise Israel.”

These remarks come amid international discussions on shifting alliances in the Middle East. Following the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, former US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that several countries, once considered unlikely, were now preparing to establish diplomatic ties with Israel.

American officials have also stated that Saudi Arabia has agreed in principle to join the Abraham Accords, a US-led initiative aimed at normalising ties between Israel and several Arab states. However, some obstacles remain, and negotiations are still ongoing.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has made it clear that Islamabad is under no pressure from Washington to recognise Israel.

Speaking at a community event held in Dallas, the ambassador addressed various national and international matters, including Pakistan’s position on Israel. He firmly stated that the country’s policy remains unchanged and is aligned with the vision of its founding father.

His comments come amid ongoing speculation in international media regarding shifts in how Muslim-majority countries are approaching ties with Israel. Pakistan, however, has consistently said that it cannot consider normalisation until there is a fair and just resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Referring to recent tensions in the Middle East, particularly the confrontation between Iran and Israel, Ambassador Sheikh noted that Pakistan supported Iran’s right to defend itself in the face of Israeli aggression.

On the subject of Pakistan’s relationship with the United States, the ambassador said that ties between the two nations are on an upward trend. He highlighted growing cooperation in areas like trade, technology, and energy.

During the event, when asked about the potential for investment, he said that Pakistan has sufficient electricity resources to support projects such as cryptocurrency mining, a field gaining increasing global interest.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan has already started drafting a legal and regulatory framework for digital and virtual assets, marking a key step towards overseeing the fast-growing cryptocurrency sector.
