Nida Saleh Malik has broken every barrier and has become Pakistan’s first female Orange Line driver.
Talking about her family’s support, she said, “At first, my family was not comfortable with the idea. But once they saw my determination, they stood by me”.
“This is not just my success. It is a signal to every girl in Pakistan that your dreams are valid, no matter how unconventional,” she added.
“I always had a passion for driving,” Nida said. “Operating a modern train system like the Orange Line is both challenging and exciting, and I feel proud to represent women in this role.”
Now, women are stepping into roles previously deemed impossible for them.
Nida Saleh has done a degree in Transportation Engineering and later joined the Lahore Metro system as an engineer.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif lauded Nida’s appointment as a “moment of pride for the nation”. She is truly an inspiration for every woman in Pakistan.
